School Leadership: Experience From The Inside
I began my career in 1984 as a Mathematics and Physics teacher at Fairholme College in Toowoomba. Over the following decades, I undertook a range of teaching, middle leadership and executive leadership responsibilities before becoming a Principal.
I have led independent schools in Queensland, New South Wales and the ACT, including large, autonomous P–12 school environments. My experience includes substantive Principal appointments and Interim Principal appointments at Casuarina Steiner School and Orana Steiner School.
My responsibilities have encompassed strategic direction, educational leadership, organisational development, financial stewardship, governance relationships, workforce leadership and community engagement.
Having carried the responsibility of Principal, I understand the complexity of the role beyond its formal position description. I also understand the importance of sound judgement, trusted professional relationships and the capacity to navigate competing priorities while maintaining a clear sense of purpose.
